Its official. Totem Josh is going to Kyrgyzstan. Where you ask? Kyrgyzstan. No, not Kazakstan of Borat fame, although they do share a border. Kyrgyzstan, you know, the former soviet block country that borders Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and China. Yeah, thats the one.
So the story goes like this. Two of my good friends, Ryan, a world traveler, and Ellis, a ski film producer, took their splitboards and headed to kyrgyzstan last winter for 6 weeks. Unfortunately, their third group member had to back out at the last minute, and the two of them left on their epic journey. As any backcountry skier (or boarder) knows, 2 people is a fine number for skiing, but not for filming, so while they had a great time and found some amazing places, they didn't get the ski footage that they were hoping to get.
So... we are going to kyrgyzstan. Five of us have signed on and are pretty sure we are going. Looks like my trip will be from the middle of february through the end of march. Many thanks to the sponsors who have already hooked it up, especially Wagner Custom Skis who will be making me a custom pair of skis for the trip. Pretty Exciting!!!!
